Think I figured out what happened. When the geekbuy blog puclished their new AWS link after dropbox was dead for 2 days... the file they had linked was wrong/older, etc.

Downloaded the one that was eventually put up here, and the MD5's didn't match. It wasn't a corrupt D/L, they just had a different file linked originally.

Downloaded again from here, named the same, but MD5 different, wiped NAND and flashed, and everything looks good, w/root.

Site might want to consider listing MD5 hashes of D/L's.

rwstarke - Try to D/L from here and see what happens.

This is why I try to host every ROM I get from them.
On VonDroid Server it´s save and should work.

By the Way, welcome to the Forums ZeGetten !

You can get some Informations here: http://ubuntu.g8.net/

If you want to have Linux on your RK3066 Device use their Guide to do it.
    I never tried this.

I think you should first learn something of Android, lol. Your Screenshot is from the Chinese Launcher. So theres also a Android Base Launcher you can use.
But as I see your Version is #26 and IFwang, also normal Firmware, theres a Version #33 for it now. here: http://vondroid.com/threads/mk808b-official-firmware-15th-jan-2013.4497/
Also you can use the Finless Rom1.6 you can find on Freaktab.com for the MK808B Original Version. Be careful !!!
You can´t install it like the Windows Way, it´s a SoC Device (Software on Chip). So you need a Flash Tool, some Drivers, connect it to your PC, and go step by sttep to the INstructions to flash the Firmware directly to the internal Nand Chip ! Everything you need you find it at my Link to Version #33. But this is only the Official.
There´s also a Custom Rom from FinlessBob which is more Powerful.
    here: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?3673-UPDATE-MK808-B-Finless-1-6A-Custom-ROM

Be sure, which Version you have !!!
The only Way to compare your Device with the Original is here: http://vondroid.com/threads/mk808b-...l-and-fake-versions-with-different-roms.4799/
For me it seems Original, but never trust Chinese... ! ;)

    P.S.
All you do is on your own Risk, if you don´t know much about flashing, keep it on #26. If you want to try, please read more Informations on your Device, because there are also Clone Versions on the Market with other Firmware.
If your Flash ends with Error, you can Kill your Device.

mrkus21: Do you have success with the Finless ROM 1.6 and the "CUSTOM" XBMC?
If you got -easy understandig- Information, don´t by "shy" to give us one Link.

And did you tried one XBOX wireless Controler (with 4WIN-USB-Receiver) on the mk808b ?
(Unfortunately I don´t speak english very well)

Some Days ago... take a look at it, runs great on Finless 1.6a with 1,4GHz. NO lags !

Got no XBOX to test, Sorry...
Don´t be shy, if you can´t understand anything here, PM me... think we got the same Location.

so, i guess you figured that i downloaded from here and not from Geekbuying link.
BTW, the 2 steps restore-upgrade procedure is irrelevant, as it turns out.

Is it is me or is the 1080p image kind of slow? When I tried it, the GUI seemed to stutter quite a bit.

I take back what I said... once I got SetCPU and turned up the clock, this image is nice and smooth. 1080p is working great, so nice not having 25% of the screen taken up by the address bar and the task bar. If only we could get netflix hd...

    Hi Everyone
I'm a newbie to this site and was wondering if there any rooted firmware which have the shutdown button app for the MK808B? I'm using the Finless 1.6a version right now, and find some web page I go to it does not work. The original firmware came with the stick work perfectly, but finless make me mad. I would like to know if there anything like the 1080b_mk808b_01 firmware have the shutdown button?
