Things move fast these days and it seems sometimes very fast for Android 'TV Sticks'.
In early 2011 the first ones came onto the market, to be followed by a lot of dual core devices - which are mostly still in their infant stadium - and before the end of 2012, we will see quad cores already. Crazy.

What it will do to quality - I am not sure.

But nevertheless a device callen HI802 is about to hit the market boosting an quad core Freescale i.MX6 CPU.

    • Freescale i.MX6Q Quad Core Cortex A9 Processor with Vivante GC2000 GPU
    • System Memory – 1GB RAM
    • Storage – ? GB NAND Flash Memory + microSD card slot
    • Video Output – HDMI
    • Connectivity – Built-in Wifi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth?
    • USB – USB Host + USB OTG

Let's wait and see what it can do... especially with the
    Vivante GC2000 GPU.

    Any news on that here!?
Has anyone seen something on the web?
Since it is a freescale CPU, Linux might become an option here sooner than with the popular RK3066 sticks...(?)

Anyone heard of it anywhere else?

    Thanks

Sure. Go to www.ARMDevices.net and pay $20 to be a Member of the Site. I tell you it´s worth it. You can get the Quad Stick on the Member Store and also
great Stuff, News and Videos about Charbax checking out new Stuff from China.

If you are Member, you can buy Devices directly from the Page and from the Factory, without any Wholeseller who pushes the Price. Charbax, the Owner of the Forum doesn´t get any $ from the Price.
He only gets your Membership Cost (20$ / Year).
The Hi802 you can get for Europe with DHL Shipping Option for about 115 $ ! Thats about 87€ !

(Ich bin da schon dabei, die 15€ im Jahr ist es wert !)

    Gruss Markus

I visit the page on a regular basis - it might be worth it...not so sure about the stick though (odd GPU...I think).

No, not the Stick might be worth it, the Membership ! LOL
If Charbax now gets more Devices to the Member Store, there are some awsome Tablets to buy.
    Like the Q88 you know ? Its about 50 $ !

At the Moment Quad Stick with the Freescale i.mx6 only got a 9500-10.000 Antutu Score.
My RK3066 Devices always have 7500-8500, so...

It´s not so far away, and you might think, RK3066 at the most Devices are only running at 2x 1.2Ghz not 1.6 as they could.
If I got my MK808B, I would increase the CPU as much as it runs stable, to look if the RK3066 could also run at a better Score.

And the Quads are really expensive at the Moment. I think it takes a while if they produce more of them to get it cheaper...

i am very interested in those new quad core sticks.
    2 questions came up:
first: are these sticks able to provide 5.1 surround sound
second: possible to put the stick on the HDMI port of a receiver instead of the TV itself?

I got my Hi802 rooted thanks to the GK802 custom firmware found here .
I ran AnTuTu Benchmark and was a bit disappointed by the outcome.
My dualcore MK808 shows a score of around 12k and this quadcore mini pc is good for about 10k.

I tried overclocking but as it seems the CPU is already running at it's maximum.

    To be continued...
