    Hi Guys...

Now I got my MX1 received and do a little test with that Device.
It comes with 4.1.1 and the first Thing I tested was the Heat of the Device.
Running Antutu and WebRadio for long Time the MX1 is not to hot as everyone expect !

Second Thing everyone is interested in is the Wifi Signal. I have to say, the UG802 to me has 75% Wifi Signal, the iMito MX1 has 50% at the same Room, on the Same Place. But with or without the Case theres nothing different. Signal is ok for me. At the End of the Wifi Cable inside they fitted a little Metal Contact which should get a Connection to the Case, maybe to use the Case as a Antenna !
Maybe the little Connector Plate didnt contact the Case at all, so you would have bad Signal, open the Device and take something and put it under the Cable to get better Contact to the Case.

Now im running it without the Alu Case and the RK3066 has about 45 °C and is the hottest Part of the Device ! Thats not to hot for the RK3066... So no Heating Problems for now !! Heating test goes on...

Now I did an Antutu Benchmark with a Score of 8045 ! Thats really good.
The Device has 1007,9MB for Apps to install and really 8 GB of ROM, which are 5,3GB available.
The RAM is about 882MB ! Bluetooth runs great and also my favorite Nova Launcher did his Job.

The Vent Holes at the MX2 would be good, but not needed at all.

Testing goes on.... be back soon with new Informations.
If anyone has a Question about the Device, please no PM, post here !
    ;)

The Power of the MX1 is great, at my Second Benchmark after rebooting I got 8045 Points at Antutu ! I also think, this is the first mini PC you don´t have to Change its Firmware if you don´t need Root ! The MX1 has a great User Interface, you only should replace the Launcher with Nova, Apex or Go Launcher HD to get a smooth Expierience.

But this is only my first thought.

    • Heat Sinks are not needed !!! The Rk3066 has only 45-48°C thats ok !
    • DVD-RW could not run if theres no Driver for it at Android 4.1 !
    • The Sound Dongle wouldn´t run if there are no Drivers for it.
    • the Ethernet Dongle could run, I also ordered a white One with Cable...
I´m not the right One for Driver Information... maybe Tuen would help and tell you if that would run.

No I dont flash any Rom, cause at this Device I´m really happy with the Original One.
It seems the Manufacturer did learn from the other mini PCs.
But I have to say, I did not do so much with it, cause I got not enough Time yet.

But I would buy it again.

The temperature of the RK3066 device - how did you measure it? With the case off - I believe?

Temperature Test I did without the Case cause the Rk3066 was not mounted directly on the Aluminium Case so if you measure it on the Case you will get wrong Temperature !
Inside on the Top of the RK3066 there are about 47 °C, Device running 30min. with Webradio and some Stuff installing.

Danke - Gruss aus dem Pott - FC Bayern vs. BVB09 heute?

    Back to the topic
Thanks for the explaination - Can elaborate a bit more how did you take the temperature? Some measuring device or internal sensor reading?

    Thanks,

I measured it with an Ultrasonic Thermometer. This is actually 1-2 Degrees accurate. But I want to measure it with a normal Sensor which would be fixed at the Top of the RK3066.
Coming soon, now I have no time for it. If you need something to be tested, or you are interested in something special to know, please post it here.

Sorry ATAB, bin kein Fussball Fan.... ;)

..I guess that is accurate enough - so a 45C proper reading does not mean that the dies underneath is hoovering at 60C at some point.

    [/quote]
Well, quite an approach here...but will be interesting to see what this reading will show - also I doubt that it will that much higher?

    • Any interest to run Linux on it at all?
    • Ever tried to run w/o the power supply when hooked up to the USB port of the TV?
    • Ever take a temperature reading while stressing the chip really (running benchmark, or some torture test)?
    • Real power uptake of the device
It would be great if you could look into these things - but only if your time permits it.. ;-)

    Thanks,
    ATAB

So now I take the Time and do some Tests for you, before I go out for some Shopping.

The Power uptake of the Device I took a 230V Wattmeter to measure it, it only takes about 2 to max. 3 Watts on the 230V Supply when its running Antutu.
Normal use only 1-2 Watts. So this is normal to a Tablet CPU.
The RK3066 has no Temperature Sensor inside or my Apps could´t find any... So I only could measure the Temperature at the RK Top. No internal Sensors found.
Used 3 or 4 Apps which could read Sensor Data from Android Devices from Play Store.

Linux... I´m using some Linux on my 2nd PC but I also think the mini PC Devices are not powerful enough to use it really good. There are some img´s of Ubuntu and other Linuxes for the MK802,
which has really long loading Times for any Application, so maybe the MX1 would run it, but I don´t find any Images for it on the Internet. This takes to much Time and I think, Android 4.1.1 could also
be a good System for a Little PC to use as a Internet Station. I´ll try this if my new 22Inch HDMI TFT that I ordered yesterday would arrive, only have old VGA Tft´s here.

Running the MX1 on my Samsung 55 Inch at my Living Room is boring for test some Things, so lets wait for it.
Also waiting for a USB to Ethernet Adapter to see if the Connection is better with it.

    nice Weekend, bye...

Some Information to Linux on RK3066... look here:
    http://liliputing.com/2012/11/devel...-devices-with-rockchip-rk3066-processors.html

Think we should wait till a stable usefull Release is done.
    ;)

NEWS: Freescale released his first I.MX6Q Quad Core ARM Chip which comes at the AMPE A10 Tablet, but there is a Quad Core mini PC available for Developers on ARMDevices.net, but you need to be a Member.
So next Weeks I think this Stick could Change the Market. The I.MX6 does a good Antutu Score about 9500 at the A10 Tablet, so it could be a cool mini PC, too.

    Hi,

I've ordered this device 3 weeks ago and received it one week later (Geekbuying).
The MX 1 is a good device and well supported by the manufacterer.
There are already several firmware updates available which fix small bugs and implement new features like a software power off function.

Somehow the WiFi works really bad for me.
I have to open the case and expose the antenna to get a connection at all.
The WiFi-router is located at the next room and on other device the signal is okay.
I've once connected the small metal plate of the antenna with the device's aluminum case.
The signal didn't improved, rather the opposite.
Maybe a solder joint of the antenna cable is not okay or my WiFi is just too weak.
But it seems like the aluminum case is shielding the antenna and decreasing signal strength.

My PCB is blue btw. Maybe I have an other revision. Over the CPU it says "4412" where I see on your image a "4112
    Here are some images:

AndrewDB is working on an Ubuntu port for the RK3066 and just released a pre-alpha for the MK802 III / UG802 / MK808. It probably also runs on the MX1.

Where did you order your device?

    Best regards.

I ordered mine on McBub.com but never order from them again, I waited 17 working Days for a DHL Express Order to arrive.

Something I spotted... If you look at my last dark Picture... your Wifi Cable is mounted to the 3 Pins on the Board, but mine is mounted to one Pin on the small yellow Wifi Board ! Maybe that could be
the Wifi Problem. Mine has also not a really good Signal, Only 50% but its ok. If I have my Device behind my TV it also has no Connection. But it´s ok for me.
Till I get my 22 Inch TFT, the Device will run at my Computer Room with Ethernet, if my Adapter also arrives.

Over my CPU it says 4112 ! so really maybe you have a newer Version or its only another Manufacturer. Your Board looks a little bit different behind the Wifi Board, where the Antenna is mounted.
