Hi Guys, Yesterday I do some Testings on my MK808B with Wifi Antenna.

    Depending on that Posts...
    http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechforum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=992

I tried this and it works, but...
It is enough for me to take a Single Cord with a Lenth of 12cm. IMPORTANT 12cm !
All you need to do is open your MK808B, take off the small Metal Paper which is mounted in the Case and connects to the two Pins on the Board.
Solder the 12cm Cable to the ANT Pin and drill a hole into your Case. Put the Cable outside and if you have a Strong Cable, you can do a Ring with it on the Top.

If you don´t have a dual Wire with Shielding, I think this also works great with a Single Wire, try it first...
My Wifi improves to 3-4 bars with the Cable.
You can also do it like on Armtvtech, which is more Professional.

Antenna near the OTG Port is only for good Connection Speed, not for Signal...
    :D

here are some Pictures of my test:
Don´t wonder the Circle I madewith the Cable increases from 3-4 Bars was held with a kind of Sealant at the End of the Circle, but only to test this. You can also glue it on the Cable since you have the right Circle....

This was only a Test, but it works, improves Wifi from 2 Bars to 4 Bars !!!
I use Ethernet Adapter, so I put it all back to Original, but if you know what you do, you can do it like this, to improve your WiFi !! If I use my Original Wifi I got 2-3Bars on the MK808B, thats enough for me.

( Have to say at last, my Router is outside this Room, maybe 5 meters away. )

    greez Markus

This was only a test, but for those who don't have much time, this also works great. Only thing is to get better signal. ;)

Here is what I did to get the WiFI of my MK808B to work properly.
Disassembled the antenna with the cable from the ground plane (it was completely useless assembled in that way) and soldered it on the pins at the other side of the PCB for the other smaller antenna. The thin core wire should be soldered to the 'ANT' pin(pad) and the shield to the 'GND' pin/pad. That way the antenna will work as real antenna, before it was completely useless.
Finally I disabled the small "antenna" by insulating it from the pins with a sticky tape.

And here is how it looks like:

Good work, but at the end I had to stick the antenna on the on the other side of the PCB because the result was again 5Mbps when I closed the box. It was a bit difficult to put it on the other side of the PCB as the cable is really short, but still possible.
I'd not suggest this mod if you don't have proper tools and some experience with soldering iron.

well wow, i had looked at the antenna and it looked like the two push pins where just shorted, but I figured they know what they are doing and I must have been missing something. It seems from reading this that that is not the case and somebody messed up with this antenna to pcb link.

Try to use only these 2 Pins as Antenna and disconnect the other... You will get better Signal. I found out the 2 Pins are for better Signal and the Antenna on the other Side increases the Speed to 65MBPs ! Try it...

So simple, yet it works so well. I didn't bother looping the wire. Just passed it through the hole for power led and left if hanging.
Using wifi analyzer from the playstore, it showed that I had gained almost 20 db in signal strength. Speedtests jumped from 2-3 Mbps to around 20 Mbps .

    Thanks for this :D

Yes that´s it. I don´t know why the Chinese Manufacturers try this on Original PCBs...
It´s simple, low cost and many Users would be happy !

I followed the instructions posted by mrkus21 except I removed the pins instead of soldering to them.

    1. I de-soldered and removed the big antenna.
    2. On the other side, I de-soldered then removed the pins and the small antenna. You will solder the wire to "ant" and "gnd" where the pins used to be.
    3. I stripped a wire and soldered the core to "ant" and the braided shielding to "gnd".
    4. Routed the wire around the edged of the board and up through the hole for the power led.
    Hope this helps.

Hi mrkus21 . I connected my mk808b to a 150mbps N router. i get max linkspeed of 65mbps only. whereas my laptop gets 150mbps full.
Is the mk808b limited to 65mbps max??

    ok
i have also done and got an unbelievable result !
i took a slim single core wire (without shield ---> its not important to have shield) and soldered to ANT of pins .
*** and pls leave the other Antenna, that is soldered to board on the other side (it must stay there exactly like before --->DON'T TOUCH IT ) ***

i took the MK808B to the farest place from my WLAN in the house = (Bathroom) .
there were 3 concrete walls and ~ 6.5m distance between the router and MK808B.
    i got maximum link speed = 65Mb/s and full 4 bars .
i got exactly the same speed like my LAN connection !
MK808B got better signal than my Xperia X10 .
here some pics, but take care --> i have tested some positions of antenna :

    - circle one as markus showed wasn't good
    - straight one was also not so good
    - the antenna MUST be like L and 12cm
---> just rotate your MK808B and find out what happens, but i'm sure that the position is NOT important, the Antenna only must be like L

For me it was good. Maybe it depends on your Router and your Home...
Maybe for you the L Position is better but you can try different ways.

But 12cm and solder a Cable without shield is the same as I sayd ! Really easy way to increase your Signal.
You can also try to get your WiFi Antenna modded like this...

    BiQuad-CD-Antenne.jpg

This is the normal Way to get a great WiFi Signal, I haven´t tried this, but maybe this also works great.
For Now I don´t use Wifi, you get better Connections using the Ethernet Adapter with USB.
    :)

my WiFi is exactly like my LAN connection on PC (=the same speed and perfect).
I'm really satisfied with my connection .
thanks for your first tutorial with single core wire :D

Just got my MK808B in the mail, loses signal ~ 2 feet away from router. Ugg. I'd be modding right now, but there are tornadoes moving through my area in the next few minutes so I have to wait and it's killing me!!!!

May i suggest you go for a cheap mini usb 150N wifi dongle. (under $5 or so). i have one with the RTL8188CUS chipset. And i found the drivers for it as well. Works pretty cool. Also, stock 808B's wifi chipset will give you only 65mbps max sadly. I cant do HD streaming on the stock wifi hardware.

Hello, just one question, in the tutorial of Ar.Pars, is the wire should be solder with antenna andGND ?, or just with antenna ?
Thank for your answer and sorry if my english is bad
