I believe that the MK808 might be the better option compared to the other most discussed and 'known' device UG802 running the RK3066 dual core.

Does anyone here own the device yet?
How would the judgment be so far?

    Thanks

If you dare, you can also look here - and cut off a few bucks off the price...

    Cool

Do you know whether you can use wired ethernet (via USB) on these sticks? Something like this.
I am thinking of replacing my WDTV Live with this and I have that wired in to my router so would like to do the same with the MK808.

    Thanks

Not owning a stick like this - I do not know for sure - but that is exactly what you are looking for.
I have seen such devices with even an USB hub included, so you do not lose the precious USB ports.
If this is all feasible - I do not know.

According to this it should work :) But it seems they didn't have much of an improvement with it.

Hey thanks for the information PyromaniacB.

I took the plunge and ordered from In4Dealz. MK808, wireless mouse/keyboard, and hub. All for just over 50 pounds including free shipping (7 - 15 days) and shipping insurance. I know I could get it slightly cheaper elsewhere but I am happy with this deal.

Will post a review once I have it :)

XBMC on Android is good but don't expect hardware support for HD videos just yet.

Yes indeed - but hard acceleration is the key for a good experience of XBMC in HD - I think.
    How will it still take?
Will the quite powerful and affordable RK3066 devices ever get hard acceleration at?
    What do you expect?

    Hi,

I have posted an initial review here.

    Jez
P.S. Can anyone point me to a good XBMC for Android tutorial?

    Hi Jez,
i'm thinking about buying this. I'll ask you a couple of questions if you dont mind:)
    1. Does it work in 1080p? According to your initial review, there were some issues.
    2. Were you able to get XBMC to work?
    3. How about controller? Do you like the RC11 mouse-keyboard. Would you prefer lenovo n5901 sold here in a bundle with the MK808.
    4. Are any other issues with it?

    Thanks

    Hi oubbou,

I probably need to update the review but time is short!

    To answer your questions...

    1. Yes it works fine at 1080p now. I recommend the latest Finless Bob's firmware v1.5a which fixes a number of issues.

    2. Yes xbmc works fine. I updated to a later nightly & windows shares showed up. Works nicely albeit without hw acceleration. That said you can apparently use an external player like mx from within xbmc.

    3. I have the RC11 now & it works fine. It's the size of a remote control so fits nicely next to the other remotes. Haven't tried the other devices you mention.

    4. The latest fw mentioned above fixes a wifi issue where it was slowing to 5mb/s so nothing major at present.

Has anybody managed to get linux working on the mk808 yet? I have a review on my site as well If you want to see another angle before you buy! (its all a bit disorganised at the moment so you will need to go to my older posts :p). Would be so good to have this stick on linux to see If gnash is usable for flash once it gets a bit more muscle!

For MK808!? I thought that would be one of the advantages of MK808 compared to 'previous versions'?
