We found out, that the MK808B has more Versions out on the Market which have not the same ROM !

So it seems there are really more Versions on the Market...
I found out, some Differences on the MK808B !

    Original One has...
    • only one big Wifi Antenna and the Second are 2 Pins on the PCB which connect to a small Metal Plate (30% of the other Metal Paper Size) on the Case.
    • Wifi CHip RK903, RK902, RK901....
    • a heatsink on top of the RK3066
    and the Clone #1 has
    • no 1080p and 720p support from the Kernel
    • Heatsink on the RK3066
    • Wifi Chip Mediatek !!! (Orange Board) MT5931 much bigger then the other...
    • PCB NAME: "SunVell 808" I name it Clone #1
Also you might know, that there is another Clone #2 on the Market, but I have not enough Informations for you yet, maybe soon. Check back for Updates here...
The Clone#2 has no heatsink on the RK3066 also MTK Chipset

It is possible that on this Clones the Kernel is locked, so you can only flash a correct ROM.

Don´t know if these Things are the only Differences...

First is the Version with a green PCB from Geekbuying the Original One like this:
It has 1 Wifi Antenna and on the other Side 2 Pins connect to the Case...
    MK808B-bottom-1024x969.jpg MK808B-top-1024x954.jpg

The other Version spotted is the Blue PCB, also seems Original.

If you see more Informations about the Differences, post here...

IF YOU HAVE FLASHED THE FALSE VERSION OF ROM, YOUR WIFI AND BT WILL NOT WORK
LOOK HERE FOR SOLUTIONS: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?3365-Solution-Custom-ROM-for-MK808B-Fake-(No-Wifi-BT) This is only a Solution for the Clone #2 !!!

First real Pictures of the Clone #2 with Mediatek Chipset. And without a Heatsink:
    [VonDroid.com]-DSC_3256.jpg [VonDroid.com]-DSC_3258.jpg

Now it seems, theres also a SunVell 808 Clone #1 also MT5931
The PCB Name is also SunVelI808 but it has a Heatsink on top of RK3066 like here !

Thanks for all Pictures an Informations !

i am thinking official/fake is maybe not the best terminology.
    Are they different manufacturers ?
perhaps mk808bg and mk808bb for green/blue .. silly way to do it I know.
The thing with the b and g versions above is that apart from the wifi connection the pcb layouts look identical at least from a distance. Are they a different RF chipset ?

actually, you can see an RK903 on the RF chip on the blue one, so it looks like the blue and green above are the same and there is another blue one with the mediatek.

Yes, this is correct, the blue one I also spotted with the rk903 chipset. Confusing...

    This is no Clone One...

I found the first Clone one, it has a bigger Wifi Chipset. Look here
    Schnappschuss (2013-01-16 12.10.37).png

This green One is a real Clone ! And behind the Clone is the Original blue One.
You see the Orange Chipset, this is the Clone Wifi Chipset, its bigger and the same One which is used on the imito !!

I think that when you have one that has no heatsink and set it at 1.6Ghz it might damage the chip by over heating.

    I have a guess...

There are also 2 Versions of the Original MK808B, really confusing to me...

I think the Clone Version has only the Mediatek Chipset and other Firmware because of the WiFi Chipset.
The ROMs from MK808B Original are not the same and if you flash One, the WiFi and BT will not work ! Now we know it, the Olsen One has the same Hardware as the IFwang Version and is also Original ...

If you want to buy this Device, I prefer geekbuying, where you should get an Original One...

I've just received mine today and opened it, bought from GeekBuying.com and it has a RK903 chip and the OLSEN kernel, exactly as your quote.

Hopefully you would test a Custom Rom or Official Firmware with the other Kernel, I think this would work.
There are 2 Official Kernel´s out. Crazy.

I must do it soon, although I can not garantee as I'm busy/travelling in the next 3 weeks.

I'm just afraid something goes wrong and I don't have the original firmware. I made a quick search last night and found it nowhere to download.

But, there is the Ifwang #24 from 20/Nov, the Olsen is #25 from 24/Nov and the ifwang #26 from 18/Dec.

Probably it's just the name guy who pressed the enter key on the compiling machine ;)

I'm new to this gadgets, which one do you recommend? Finless 1.5 (1.6 is early beta, right?) or the Official #33?

For now I recommend Finless 1.5 its running great with Overclocked 1,4GHz and no heating Problems and with an antutu of 9800 !
The Official #33 is also good, but not as Powerful I think...

    MK808B Clone #2

Hi, I've got the exact same device.
I tried finless 1.6 for mk808b clone but the bluetooth didn't work. Luckily I dumped my firmware before trying,
I flashed my dump back but now the device does only power up, when power is plugged into the otg port. Others report this in finless threads as well.

The reason why I initially tried finless was because the kernel in the stock rom seems to have a limited clock at 1.2GHz although setcpu showes available frequencies upto 1.6GHz.
Does anyone know if there is a setup in which WiFI/BT works and a "fixed" kernel work together to get clock rates up to 1.6GHz (my MK808B even has a heat sink).

Is there maybe an updated stock rom out there somewhere?

    Thanks in advance.

1,6Ghz is not reachable as I know yet. I have 1,4Ghz working from Finless, and its enough !

Maybe you have another Version of Clones... Can´t tell you. I only know this Clone.

Hmm well... 1.4GHz would be good for a start, as my antutu benchmark only gets me 6000 points... but bluetooth would be nice to have for wireless speakers...
