I use my N101 since about 2 months. I’m quite happy with it but it freeze or reboot very often and it is more and more slow…

So I decided to upgrade the firmware but before, I have a few questions.

    First, my tablet :
    Model 101S
    Android 4.0.4

    3.0.8+
    yj@mid-server#338
SMP PREEMPT Sat Jun 30 10:12:07 CST 2012

    Build
    Rk30_ics_v2.23.00
    Rk30sdk-eng 4.0.4 IMM76D eng.azg.20120705.164831 test-keys

I don’t know what all that mean but I think I’ve understood that there is the kernel and the firmware…

So ! Should I upgrade first the kernel, next the firmware, both together ?

Can I put any kernel, any firmware on the 101S ? Only 4.0 or also 4.1 ?

Wich one would you apply ? using the same process and the same tools described in VONDROID Forum ?

Also, shoul I use "Upgrade" or "Restore" ? I suppose I need to backup apps&data with TitaniumBackup ?

Thanks, I’m sorry for all this questions but before doing a stupidity, I prefer ask.

    One more time thanks.

    Christian

It's definitely a good idea to backup your apps & data with Titanium Backup, note that if you have other files on your tablet as well, you should back them up manually.
In firmwares with only one .img file, all the needed stuff is included in that, you don't need to flash the kernel separately. Restore is a more compatible option in this case.

You should be fine with any CFW or OFW you find in this subforum, I would personally suggest VonDroid CFW N101 3.2.1 4GB version with kernel #26.
You can try the Jelly Bean (4.1) roms too but they currently have some sound problems.

I'm pretty sure that every firmware here should include all the languages which are available in the official firmwares.

Thanks a lot,I'll try to upgrade maybe next week with the firm you said.

If everything works fine, I'll try later with the 4.1 when the stable version will be ok.

    Have a good day.
