Tried hundreds of time to flash on my laptop with xp sp3, did not recognized in the flash tool but driver install was ok.
Then tried on my desktop win 7 and worked.

I know someone else got the same problem but it didn't worked on a win7 machine but it worked on a xp machine.

No, for me finless works better, but if there are users which have problems, they can easily flash back to the latest original.
This firmware is from geekbuying. They have a great support and also work together with finless to bring up his custom roms. I think Finless also gets his firmware from them and then he begins to work, lol. ;)

Next time we will get a finless Rom 1.6.But this could take some time. So try the 1.5 and be happy like me.

Hi, quick question. How can one backup its current firmware before installing new one? Is this via this "Save" button in the tool? Just need to make sure I can easily return to my current version.

    thanks, Marcher

Which Version did you have ? Normally you can root your Device and do a Nandroid Backup. But if you have a Official FW, we can find it and you flash the Image like the newer One...
I would try the Finless Rom 1.5, this offers great Performance, Overclocked and smooth.

Post Kernel Version an Build Number like above.
But I know the 2 Versions, one from 11.12.2012 and this new from 15.01.2013.

So I´ve uploaded the #24 and the #33. You have #26....
I didn´t have 26 here. Where did you buy it ? Take a Picture from inside if you can...

If I were you I would find out which MK808B I have, open the Case take a Look at it.
Choose the right Rom and flash a Finless ROM ! And promise me, you will not go back !

If so, you can flash the #24 or #33 !
Otherwise you have to do a ROM Backup. I´ve never done this on a Stick.
I only switch from Original to Finless and Back...

    But should be no Problem.
Crazy, but I´ve never done it on a Stick. Only an Phones and Tablets with CWM.
Maybe Tuen can help you with your Backup !

    Hi,

Atatched a picture from the inside, looks as an "original" with the RK903 chip (just one antenna wire to the shield) and a few screencaptures from the stick.

I bought the stick bundled with a RC12 keyboard for USD 77 (including 3-day TNT shipping) from Shenzhen Value in Action Technology thru AliExpress, went very smooth and NO customs issues ...

As you can see the stick came pre-rooted (I just updated SU) and I easily managed to remove some chinese bloatware from the stick. However, I do think this kernel does NOT allow OC-changing, whatever values you set with SetCPU or any other tool, it looks like the stick will continue to run at 1008 (eventhough AnTuTu show the different speeds entered, the test results are just above 10000 ...
So Finless is certainly an option it seems, however I thinkt I'll wait until they managed to get it running real 1080P , this rom does only ~ 1280x670 for now ...

I also like working with CWM on my other rooted devices, it would be great to have something similar so that one can easily backup system+apps or flash new formware or restore to previous state ...

Please feel free to move this to a different/new section is this is more appropriate ... don't want to clutter ...

    Thanks,

    Marcher

The stick does always show 1008 mhz. This is a reading problem. Really runs higher! The finless had a recovery, but I haven't tried it yet. Will do this next time.

    Hallo mrkus21,

    Kernel Version:
    3.0.8+
    Ifwang_V_401j1 #33
SMP PREEMPT Tue Jan 10 16:45:07 CST 2013

    Build Number:
    mk808b_400j1_10-01-2013

Please speak the Forums Language, so that everyone can read this. Otherwise contact me to PM.

To your Stick. You have to make sure that you have the right one. Where did you buy it ? There are more Versions of the MK808B on the Market, which could be different.
The Geekbuying Original Version has a green or blue PCB, with the following Chipset...
You should open your Stick and check out, which Wifi Chipset you have, if it is a little Silver Plate with RK901, RK902 or RK903 on it, you normally can flash this Image.
If you have a Stick, with a orange PCB mounted on the normal PCB of the Stick, then you have Mediatek and should not flash it.
Normally the only Thing that happens to you, if you flash the false Image, only Wifi would not work.

here you have some Informations which Version you could have: http://vondroid.com/threads/mk808b-...al-and-fake-version-with-different-roms.4799/

Never heard about anyone who bricked his Device with the fals Rom on the MK808B.
    ;)

Thank you for your reply and sorry for the wrong language ;-).

    I think I have a original. Inside is a RK903.

I want to try the original firmware with kernel from IFWANG. But is there any opportunity to save the firmware from my device before flashing the new one?

    Thank you.

    Regards G-Star-Men

Thats a lot of work, maybe you can ask your Seller for a Official Firmware...

Otherwise you have to Root your Device first, and after this follow the Steps from Tuen, should be the same as on the RK3066 Tablets here:
    http://vondroid.com/threads/updated-27-08-2012-how-to-dump-current-rom.322/

I´ve never done this before, this is a lot of work. It´s easier to get a Rom from your Seller...

Hey there, nalle303, is there a Chance that you try #33 I provided here and tell me if it´s also pre Rooted...
Or anybody else will try this for us...
If it´s also pre Rooted, I will upgrade the Informations on it. I can´t test it this Time, doing some tests on Finless 1.5.
    thx, guys.
