    Hello,

The server move took an unexpected turn for which I apologise - we're back up now and there might be a few errors but you should notice massively increased performance and speed.

    Again sorry for the downtime!

There are a few teething problems however these are being worked out, you may notice a reboot where the site will be offline for around 2 minutes.

    Hey..., good to cu again..,

but I really wonder why you always have such a long downtime while moving a complete website to another server!? :paper:

I think you have a lot of work fixing a few errors on the site!? A few seconds ago every link in the top menue got a target"_blank". Funnily enough now it works... :goofy:

Everything that could have gone wrong with moving server did so, the was actually up 5 hours after the move but due to a RAID problem it had to go down again and I didn't want to put the server back up until 99% of features were working.

And, to be fair, there have been 45 euros of donations in the last six months - that does really help go towards costs but doesn't go that far. If more people donated it would make moving easier - the only reason we needed to move was because the site has grown to a level where it needs more powerful hardware and better peering.

    Hi Piers,

believe me...I really know what kind of shit can happen while moving websites form one server to the other. Sometimes shit happens...no problem...but I also wondered that you dont put any kind of static information on the webserver like: We are currently moving server...please be patient.

Because of the donation... you are right....45 Euros is not really much. It's more like a water drip on a hot stone...

So...wish you all good luck! :)

    Thank you :)

It was not just moving a website - it was moving locations entirely, new hardware, new DNS etc.

Still in Europe but take a look at the speed tests to various locations, all of these were conducted using a 1GB file. Obviously some are impressive, or as expected (DE, NL, UK) but others aren't that bad such as USA and India.

    Florida, USA: 105 Mbps
    Sao Paulo, Brazil: 37 Mbps
    New Delhi, India: 64 Mbps
    Amsterdam, NL: 821 Mbps
    Frankfurt, Germany: 848 Mbps
    London, UK: 817 Mbps

    Hong Kong, China: 24 Mbps

Some users may have previously found they were blocked from access via our firewall, it was incorrectly detecting access as port scans. I've fixed it.
