    • ARM A9 quad code - Ghz unknown
    • GPU - still a Mali400 @up to 533Mhz
    • Performance: Supposed to beat Tegra 3 in Nexus device's performance hands down (+30% CPU and even more for the GPU part))
    • 28nm HKMG LP Process to reduce power consumption and leakage
bold claims: 20-40% power consumption reduction compared to 40nm devices or
"55% higher performance and more than 60% less power consumption than those that feature 45nm LP SoC"
    • Higher integration: integrated high speed communication interface to connect w/ e.g. for 4G LTE modules
    • Availibilty: Unknown
As you see there is not really much known in detail about the chip (whereas Allwinner was very open about all specs but clocks for A31 - another potential quad core contender here).
It remains to be seen how it fares - but I see great potential in this chip and looking at the recent track record of the RK3066 dual core in the Chinese tablet market - I have few doubts that this chip will be picked up by various vendors/OEMs etc.

The better and finer process should definitely help w/ power consumption at all power levels - it might also mean that you get better battery performance from them despite the quad core configuration compared with today's dual cores.

I think it will compete with Allwinners A31, Qualcomm Snapdragon's S4 MSM8626, Freescale's i.MX 6 series and the rather unknown ATM7029 and Ex4412 to a lesser extend ..and more for market share and price points.

When will products be in the market?
Despite all announcements - do not expect any product in your hand for this Xmas season..Q1 or Q2/2013 the earliest - I would expect.
    What do you think?

    Update:
According to various sources the RK3188 boosts a Mali400-GPU at rather high speed (up to 533Mhz?).
The RK3066 carries the same GPU but mostly a speed of 250Mhz?.
Video @0:22 indicating Mali400 GPU as well.

Maybe someone over here knows more:
According to the that source it is believed that the RK32XX became now what is known RK3188?
But take it with a grain of salt anyway.

I found this ..which seem to confirm that the RK3188 carries a Mali400MP as the GPU

    RK3188 - Mali400 on steriods?

According to various sources the RK3188 boosts a Mali400-GPU at rather high speed (up to 533Mhz?).
In RK3066 it was rather around 250Mhz (?).

Well, I would not say wrong...combined with the increase in speed and bandwidth it poses a nice upgrade - and is still better then some other new quad core - although I think A31 will be faster in graphics...

Crazy News about the RK3188 !

Rockchip says they launch it Q1 or Q2 2013 !

"The company expects to start sending samples to hardware partners in February, which means that we could see these quad-core chips show up in tablets and other devices in March, April, or May." (liliputing)

    Here a Picture from liliputing:
