Well, I still think that Rockchip RK3288 will kick some ass in the graphic department ... but to be hit it needs to in the market quickly...especially with the price of 40$ per SoCs.. at least that is what I heard...

For the Rk3288 i also heard maybe from 35-40 USD... deepening on mass production.

That's a hard sell as s800 cost around $45. But initial price for these SOC are always high. I spend the price to drop down to $30 in 6-9 months.

Well, the introduction should be at 40$ while the price is excepted to decline to the mid thirties...
I guess Rockchip feels quite confident about the product - I would consider yield a question of lesser importance as the process node is not new and yields should be quite reasonable.
And RK3288 won't be the most complex chip - TMSC is making @28nm these days...

However, it would be a interesting new SoC, but hopefully Rockchip will also introduce a OctaCore soon.

Truthfully -- an octa core is just a benchmark beast these days - the practical value is still a lot less then those numbers might suggest.
Bring the RK3288 today - and it will wipe the floor for mid up to lower high end tablets SoCs...
(But the 'today' will not happen...)

See here for some info on A12 and A17 - both versions do exists...
Basic conclusion might be if RK3288 is coming out soon... it is based on A12... if it will be released by 2015..it might be indeed a A17 solution.

    Hi,

there are new rumor floating around the web (edwardweinert.com) in regard to this SoC. This time they are about Pipo getting ready for a RK3288 tablet real soon:

It should be announced in April - based on RK3288 SoC from Rockchip pushing the pixel onto a high res screen. The announcement might take place at a fair starting 12th, April.
There is still Mali 76X mentioned for the GPU and A17 for the ARM core.

Let's see and wait what comes around this time

    Some bits from the net:
    Real or not !?
ARM saying it did not expect A17 before 2015 casts some doubts that RK3288 is featuring that core already in 2014 - but who know?

ATAB, you´re crazy, haha, great News of Rockchip !

I also focus on low budget Devices This Time. Great to see some 10 inch Tablets with 1024x600, a Actions ATM7029 Quad and 1GB RAM and 16GB Flash for about 119€
at Ebay Germany with 12 Month Warranty by German Sellers. I think these low Cost Devices are only the Beginning of some Price Falls also for the next High End Tablets like RK3188 or then RK3288.

I´m now testing my 38€ RK3066 Tablet from Geekbuying, only bad thing is the low RAM with 369MB instead of written 512 and the small Battery.
Battery will be changed by me into 5000mAh next weeks and RAM needs to be Cleaned automatically every 30 Seconds, then its really usable with Antutu 14000 and up.

Anyway, I think I personally love Chinese Tablets much more then those which you can buy in Germany. They have more Connectors, better Prices and more Performance.
Most German Tablets only have DualCores by Samsung... we will see, what Rockchip can do soon on the Market.

    Keep us updated !

    Nice Day, mrkus21

    Some more preliminary results ... tests RK3288 (4xA17 cores + GPU T760?) vs. A80(4xA15 + 4xA7 + GPU PowerVR G6230).
Both SoCs not yet available in the channel - and there is not much known about these benchmark - so take it with a grain of salt.

    Tests @1280 X 800:

Looks great if it is true. But still should have more cpu performance, because amlogic is coming with its m802... Antutu about 30500 !! Really cool quad core. ;-)

Be reminded that the prototype was not running at the expected clock yet. ;-) !
RK3288 should leave Amlogic behind in benchmarks - but Amlogic is available now... RK3288 not yet...
