There is a change it won't work, if you don't have root permission, you can run that romdump.
I have just rooted the device and gave android terminal permission. The instruction earlier said to command
/data/romdump and not /data/local/romdump, so that's what I did. Is this wrong?
Oke update, I'm assuming the instruction was wrong and it should have read
Because this did do something and I now have files in the folder sdcard/romdump
So can you use these files to restore this firmware or do I need to do something else for that?
You did it correctly
if your system.tar has a size lager then 150mb, then you "should" have a correct dump.
hi, I couldn't find a link to create a topics so posting here:
clockworkmod for rk3066: http://dragondevs.com/viewtopic.php?f=167&t=414
OW that the reason why everyone pm me if there is a new firmware, I've now update the permission, normally you should have permission to start a topic in firmware section
btw anwser on your question, I've already know it, but will try to port them if it will work or not.
Just checked and it was 216mb so it should be ok. So can you use these files to restore the old firmware and how would you need to do that? (Not that I want to, but just curious/eager to learn)
I finally got vondroid v2.0 working yesterday is working great, no more screenfreeze when going to sleep and love the 4 gb of storage!
Youtube does have some buffering issues after 2 min. but I think others have also reported this. The same goes for the 'problem' that my sd card spontaneously unmouts and the tab wakes up when asleep.
Really looking forward to v2.3 keep up the good work, I really appreciate it
Who can help me make a working img file from the romdump files?
I cant find the original firmware file annyware.
n101 tab? They are visible in firmware section

Ok - followed the directions - successfully dumped ROM but ...
QUESTION 1 --- How do I make an img file from the romdump files?
Yep - scared to do an update to custom rom without the ability to revert back to original as delivered.
I do have an unusual tablet - GreatGagets 101T - which I believe is a N101 clone.
QUESTION 2 --- Do you think the 3.2.1 4G rom will work with this?
Here is what I have in the Tablet Info tab:
SMP PREEMPT Sat Aug 4 04:50:06 EST 2012
rk30sdk-eng 4.0.3 IMM76D.eng.root.20120719-211420 test-keys
1) using rkutils and linux you can create a yuandao firmware back. The important in the dump is more the boot.img (where the kernel included). The system.tar is normally works on most of the RK3066 board.
2) I can't 100% answer you that it will be compatible, because i don't really know how your tab is. It has worked on mine tab (from aliexpress eternal team, but there are also other people that works on the second batch. So if your tab is a Branded or OEM (same as branded) then it should work. But firmware testing is at own risk, i'm not responsible for brick, burn, explosion, corrupted tab,...
I have just performed a ROM dump following your detailed instructions (see screenshot below)
It seems it has worked just fine.
Only config.gz is missing, but if the same of linux, it should not be a major issue... ISN'T IT?
But I have one question: is it possible to test a new firmware (or this one, why not) - maybe letting the tablet boot off an sd-card or USB drive before than flashing the internal sd memory? I am asking because I have a supposed to be an OEM n101 (N101T in the settings), but I am not 100% sure, and I would like not to brick it.
See, something like specifying a dual boot configuration with grub/lilo on linux... probably just dreaming, but why not to ask?
Thanks in advance for any help!
is it possible to make a rom dump with this method from the pipo m2 max 3G?..
I am trying it.
romdump says that it has dumped boot partition, recovery partition and system partition.
But on kernel config, i get this error:
Dumping kernel config... sh: cat: /proc/config.gz: No such file or directory
Tuen, do you have any suggestion?
Moreover, is there any possibility to make a single .img flashable file from all the stuff created by romdump in its folder?
Is there anybady so cool'n'kind to help?
normally most of the romdump fw are already exist now.
